What to Expect

The Pre-Visit

Before your visit, it is highly recommended that you avoid using any oils, butters, or DIY products in your hair. These products can create a barrier on your curls that may affect the outcome of your curls. For the best results, please arrive with your curls styled in a fresh wash n go. It is important that your hair is dry, down, detangled, and as defined as possible. Please refrain from attending your appointment with buns, ponytails, braids, twists, or any other style that alters the natural definition of your curls. To ensure a thorough haircut, it is crucial for the stylist to see each curl pattern. Styling your curls with mousse or a light gel is highly recommended as it is time-effective and helps define your curls. Feel free to bring inspiration pictures for your desired hairstyle. When selecting these pictures, try to find ones that depict someone with a similar hair type and length as yours. This is important as haircuts can look different based on factors such as length, density, surface texture, and curl type.

The Consultation

During our consultation, my priority is to fully understand your long-term and short-term goals for your hair. We will discuss your current hair care routine at home, including any products or techniques you are currently using. I will also provide recommendations and suggestions for you to follow at home, tailored to meet your specific needs. Additionally, we will discuss your desired haircut during the consultation. There are various haircut options available, and if you need inspiration, you can refer to "My portfolio" where you'll find examples of different shapes and styles I have created in the past. You can also check out my Instagram (@Curls_Byjoy) for pictures and videos showcasing my work. During our conversation, we will also determine which products will be most suitable for your curls based on your hair goals. Don't worry, after your appointment, you will receive a personalized recommended product list via email to help you maintain and style your curls. I'm looking forward to our consultation and working together to achieve your hair goals!

After Goodbye

After your salon visit, you’ll receive an email with personalized product recommendations to help you maintain your curls effectively. My advice is designed to maximize hydration and achieve your desired results, so it’s essential to follow the guidance provided for at-home care. Remember, how you care for your hair between appointments significantly impacts its long-term health and growth.

For ongoing curl care, I recommend booking a "Reshape and Reset" service approximately every 3-4 months to trim split ends and keep your curls looking their best. If you need a refresh in between haircuts, consider the "Smooth & Define" service to revitalize your curls.
